Miz-waukee’s Best — The Brandon League

Last updated Monday, August 24 · 09:33 AM ET

☕ Morning Briefing

🏆 MIZ holds 1st at 105.5 roto points, a comfortable 18.5 ahead of #2 — but keep an eye on Wins, where GoOs is dead level with you, and SB, where closing a 5-steal gap on THAR is worth a free roto point.

⚾ Huge offensive day from your guys: Kyle Schwarber (1 HR, 2 RBI), Zach Neto (2-for-5, 1 HR), and Randy Arozarena (1 HR, 1 BB) all went deep, while Henry Bolte added a tidy 3-for-5. On the mound, Blake Snell was filthy — 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 6 K, picking up the win and feeding directly into that Wins tie with GoOs.

🌱 Walker Jenkins (RI 100, Pipeline #15, your stash) absolutely demolished AAA Columbus: 3-for-3, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB, 2 BB — a line that will accelerate call-up conversation. Meanwhile, FA prospect Yohandy Morales (RI 88, stash board) went 3-for-5, 1 HR, 4 RBI at AAA Omaha, and Sterlin Thompson (RI 86, FA) added 3-for-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI at AAA — both worth monitoring as the waiver window opens.

⚙️ On the transaction wire: Michael Soroka (right arm inflammation) heads to the IL for GoOs — a direct hit to their Wins/ERA/WHIP stacks that could loosen the Wins tie in your favor. Logan O'Hoppe (C, Texas) and Bo Naylor (C, Milwaukee) were both recalled and are available FAs if you need catching depth. Among the relievers recalled, Gerardo Carrillo (ARI, FA) steps into a rotation that just lost Soroka and is worth a look.

📰 A few injury notes circulating from the weekend: Willy Adames and Victor Bericoto both left Sunday games — elbow and knee issues respectively — with MRIs expected Monday, so both are day-to-day with real uncertainty. Brendan Donovan is also on the 7-day IL with a concussion, opening playing time for Patrick Wisdom in Seattle. None of these directly touch your roster, but Adames' elbow in particular is a situation to monitor given the potential lineup-value ripple for players hitting around him.

📼 Streamer Report Card

Does the Streaming Board actually work? Every pick it showed, frozen at pick time and graded off the real box score. Two scoreboards below: first our own calls — the Verdict ladder and MIZ (our matchup score, 0–10) — then the outside lists behind them, BP (RelieverRecon's daily BP Streamers post) and PL (Pitcher List's tier ranking). Grades are recomputed from raw lines on every build — the rubric can change, the history follows.

Q2 read — against the 52% all-picks baseline, PL's top tiers clear it (70% · 68%) and BP's top tiers sit under it (41% · 47%) — PL is earning the weight, BP is not.

Rows are overlapping lenses on the same picks, not a partition — one start can be a PL Auto Start and a Verdict SIT at once, so they never sum to the headline; each group is read against its own baseline row.

Dissent check — the override is earning its keep — 67% GOOD+ on n=9. Splits are picks the board started over our MIZ sit-call (vs 52% for all live picks).

Tiers vs YOUR lineup tonight — median starter 54, worst Zach Neto (18). AUTO START = beats the median eligible starter.

TBD starter = neutral SP + split legs until the probable posts (refresh upgrades it). Splits need 30+ AB vs that hand. IL bats are excluded; bats who rarely start against tonight's hand are dropped. Doubleheaders: legs average the ends he plays, and everyday bats get up to a ×1.50 volume boost. Lineup slot scales the score by expected PAs from the bat's usual spot (leadoff ×1.12 … 9-hole ×0.90, modal over the last ~10 played days) — his typical order, not today's card, since that posts after waivers run.

Roto sim king at +1.2; confirmed closer role, 4 projected SV, protects ERA/WHIP.

+0.9 sim, confirmed Bal closer role, SV rank 3 needs volume to hold off rank-4.

Confirmed ARI closer, +0.5 sim; low roster rate is free SV equity at minimal ratio cost.

4Joey Cantillo
RP · Cle · 24.1% · HEATER
81st-percentile suppression on 23 BBE trusted sample; elite xwOBAcon at .254 corroborates projection.
Supp 81 · 23 BBE · ATC 31.0 IP · 2 W · 32 K · 4.05 · 1.33 · sim +0.0 pts
5Max Scherzer
SP · Tor · 2.6% · UPSIDE
95th-percentile suppression, 31 BBE trusted; ATC undersells elite contact suppression if healthy.
Supp 95 · 31 BBE · ATC 25.0 IP · 1 W · 24 K · 4.77 · 1.27 · sim -0.0 pts
Passed on: Jared Jones has the best SP roto sim (+0.1) and decent suppression but only 21 BBE against (sub-threshold), ATC projects 3.99/1.23 with moderate K upside — not enough to displace three confirmed closers or Scherzer's elite contact suppression signal.

1Jacob MisiorowskiMIL-1.681.9813.43.32I’m kinda incredulous that it’s mid-August and he’s still doing it.
9Dylan CeaseTOR+12.372.6813.03.45Cease’s walk rate will continue to keep the WHIP higher than we like, but that strikeout rate is bonkers.

🔒 Keepers — 2027 Slate

Peter's model (additive): rounds-saved (cost arbitrage spine) + current skill + career-grade pedigree + sample stability + Statcast over/under-performance trend, with age-decline (33+), closer/RP, and top-30 talent adjustments. Heavy on bargain-hunting.
Claude's model (multiplicative dynasty index): EFV(2027) = (3 + skill + upside) × age_mult × pos_mult; score = EFV − cost_replacement − mookie-lock. Compounds age curve and position scarcity.
Sorted by consensus rank (average of both models). MLB-inactive players surfaced in 🚑 Return Watch below.

NEW UFDA cap: Peter 3/3 · Claude 3/3 · BOTH = top 8 in both models. Peter only = his model values cost surplus more; Claude only = mine values projection / position scarcity more.

🚑 Return watch — would be keeper-eligible if they get MLB action this year. Rank shown is hypothetical (where they'd slot if eligible).

🏚️ Keeper Cupboards

Every team's six best keepers · shade = dual-model consensus value. Cupboard score weights the top four heavily (the slots that get kept), keepers 5–8 taper. 100 = league's best cupboard.
